ThermoCycler

Starting Point
The discovery of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) allows the duplication of genetic material (DNA, RN) outside of a living cell. For this purpose, the sample must be enriched with reagents and repeatedly subjected to a specific temperature profile. Each temperature cycle doubles the genetic material, so that in 30 to 40 cycles an enormous multiplication (amplification) can be achieved.

The thermal cycler creates this cyclical temperature profile and therefore this instrument should be part of the basic equipment of every life science and diagnostic laboratory.

The Result
The main requirements in the development of our thermal cyclers are reliability, accuracy, efficiency, and ease of use. The extremely high heating and cooling rates of up to 5 °C/s ensure an efficient exchange between the plateau temperatures which are important for the PCR. The plateau temperatures are optimally kept through the entire range of the test shot. The intuitive touch user interface is at the leading edge of technology.

Our thermal cylcers are sold through the VWR sales channel as VWR Collection instruments UNO96, UNO384 and DOPPIO and by an international network of dealers under the well established peqSTAR X-Series brand name.
